Visit Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is one of the most notorious cities when it comes to history, the United States, and brotherly love. Philadelphia is the largest city in the state and also the sixth largest in the country. It has a great reputation of being one of the biggest cities in the consumer media market. The reason that the city is nicknamed the city of brotherly love is that the word Philadelphia means exactly that in Greek.

Philly is home to more than a million people and is a large educational, commercial, and cultural center in the state of Pennsylvania. When the city was still under British authority, it was the second largest city within the British Empire. It has the distinction of being the geographic center of the original 13 colonies of America and was politically more important in the 1800s than any other city, including New York City.

While the city took an important role in the country’s independence and the American Revolution, there is a lot more in the city than just the history. Philadelphia is also home to many art museums that contain some of the greatest exhibits in the country. If you visit the Rodin Museum, you can see the largest collection of work by Rodin outside of those still in France. The Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the largest museums in the country and what is even more remarkable about the museum is not what is within it, but what it outside of it. The famous steps that are featured in Rocky are the same steps that lead you right up to the museum. No visitor can pass up the photo op when they visit the great city of Philly.

If you are looking for vibrant nightlife, you will want to check out the areas of Old City and South Street. There are plenty of bars and clubs where you can go and hang out all night. There are also many theaters and restaurants in the city if you want to have a quieter evening with a special someone. There are even art galleries in Old City that you can check out on your way to a special evening somewhere.

Art is everywhere is Philly. There is more public art in the city than any other city in America. The first association to integrate public art and urban planning was in Philadelphia in 1872. There are more than 200 pieces of art in public areas that are administered by the Philadelphia Office of Arts and Culture. Beautiful murals make up most of this public art. You can see these murals on walls throughout the city, which is a great way to learn how to navigate the city. It is fun to try and turn mural finding into a scavenger hunt. There are more than 2,700 murals that decorate the city, so there is always some new piece of public art to see.

Music is also a major cultural event in Philly. Philadelphia soul is a genre that has influenced many an artist in the music world. Philly has also been the host of the American section of Live Aid as well as Live 8 in 2005. Live 8 brought more than 700,000 people to the Ben Franklin Parkway.

If you want excellent food, Philly is the place to be. Besides Philly cheese steaks, Philly is also a great place to get soft pretzels, water ice, and hoagies. There are even famous chefs from Philly, including a prominent person on Iron Chef, Masaharu Morimoto.

Philadelphia is a very down to earth city that is a great place to visit any time of the year. You can enjoy quiet evenings admiring all of the art throughout the city, or you can party it up in on South Street.
